Why should I choose this trip? What makes it better (different) than other trips?

The MILLENNIUM is the most elegant and comfortable catamaran in Galapagos. It is very safe because it has two hulls and was constructed with non flammable materials.
The ample space in cabins, living rooms and bathrooms fit the elegance and comfort required by passengers.
The power of the motors (800HP) make the trip very quick and efficient, and the atmosphere of a small group of 16 passengers, combined with the features of a big vessel, turns this into an unforgettable vacation.

What kind of person will enjoy this trip?

This yacht is designed to pamper its passengers. If comfort is your main priority, then this is the perfect trip for you. The small group size will also allow you to explore the islands, with your naturalist guide, in a very up close and intimate manner.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 (Thursday) San Cristobal & Lobos Island

In the morning you will fly to San Cristobal, Galapagos. After paying the National Park Entrance Fee, a crewmember will accompany you to your catamaran, anchored at Baquerizo Moreno harbor. Once you are checked-in and on board there will be a short briefing and lunch will be served.

Then visit Lobos Island, located in front of San Cristobal Island. This is a seasonal nesting location for the blue-footed booby and frigate birds. Enjoy the last opportunity to swim and snorkel with the sea lions in this calm bay. Around midday you will fly back to mainland Ecuador. Enjoy the last views of these enchanting islands; a unique paradise with its fascinating nature. L/D

Day 2 (Friday) Española Island – Gardener Bay - Suarez Point

Espanola is the oldest and southernmost island in the Galapagos archipelago. Due to its isolated location the island is abundant with endemic wildlife. Gardner Bay is a magnificent beach on the eastern shores of the island surrounded by turquoise water. Snorkel near the small islets nearby. View tons of fish and on occasion you may even spot some turtles and sharks. The bay is also frequented by a transient colony of sea lions that like to swim with you. Birds, like the endemic Hood-Mockingbird and different species of Darwin finches, are everywhere.

In the afternoon we visit Point Suarez, one of the most outstanding wildlife areas of the archipelago. In addition to five species of nesting seabirds there are the curious and bold Española Island mockingbirds, Galapagos doves, Galapagos hawks, several types of reptiles - including the marine iguana and the oversized lava lizard. All of which are endemic to this island. When swells are heavy a spectacular geyser-like blowhole shoots a thunderous spray 30 yards into the air. The path we follow on at Punta Suarez is about 2km. We stay for about 3 hours. B/L/D.

Day 3 (Saturday) Floreana Island: Cormorant Point
 - Post Office Bay

Floreana Island is perceived as one of the most exotic islands of the archipelago. In the morning we visit Cormorant Point where you land on a green olivine sand beach. Following a 100m path we quickly reach a lagoon filled with flamingoes, white-checked pintail ducks and other shorebirds.

In the afternoon visit the legendary Post Office Bay, where whalers historically used to post their mail in a barrel. Nowadays, you can leave a letter and hope that it will make its destination via another visitor. B/L/D

Day 4 (Sunday): Santa Cruz Island: Highlands - Charles Darwin Station

Today we anchor at the harbor of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. A mainstay for sea lions and pelicans the marina is also a popular starting point for round-the-world yachtsman. Santa Cruz has come to be the scientific center of the archipelago. Here we will visit the highlands of Santa Cruz. The lush landscape offers a welcomed retreat from the arid scenery of the smaller, lower islands. On our walk we will cross many different vegetation zones, from the dry lower region full of cactuses to the woods of scalesia in the highlands.

Santa Cruz is home to the Charles Darwin Research Station and the Galapagos National Park offices. The station consists of an information center, museum, library, and a tortoise breeding station. We take this afternoon to visit with some of the scientists, park rangers and managers to learn what efforts are in place to preserve this Unesco World Heritage Site. Visit the tortoise breeding and rearing center. Encounter different subspecies of tortoises and discover how they are prepared for reintroduction into the wild. The most popular inhabitant of this station is probably Lonesome George, the only survivor of his specific turtle species. In the past all approaches to finding a partner for him failed. But in July 2008 the scientists found a carved nest with nine eggs from a female tortoise. Three of them were saved and now under strict regulations they are incubated synthetically. B/L/D

Day 5 (Monday): Rabida Island & Chinese Hat

AM: Rabida Island

Disembark and make a wet landing on the mesmerizing red beaches of Rabida Island. Walk along the beach past sea lions, marine iguanas and a variety of birds, including mockingbirds, yellow warblers and Darwin’s finches. Continue inland to the island’s unique saltwater pond to search for the island’s famous bright pink flamingos. There may also be time to snorkel and relax on the beach.

PM: Chinese Hat

Chinese hat is a tiny Island just off the southeastern tip of Santiago Island is less than a quarter of 1 sq km in size. It is a fairly recent volcanic cone, which accounts for its descriptive name, it has the shape of a down-facing Chinese hat. The hat shape is best appreciated from the northside. Opposite Sombrero Chino, on the rocky shoreline of nearby Santiago, Galapagos penguins are often seen. There is a small sea lion cove on the north shore, where boats anchor and land at the visitor site. A 400 m. trail goes around the cove and through a sea lion colony and marine iguanas cover the landscape. The volcanic scenery is attractive, and there are good views of the cone.

There are snorkeling and swimming opportunities in the cove. B/L/D

Day 6 (Tuesday): Bartolome Island and Black Turtle Cove

AM: Bartolome Island

Bartolome Island itself is famous for it’s ‘Pinnacle Rock’ - probably the most photographed volcanic formation in the islands. Climb up a long wooden staircase comprising 360+ steps to the viewpoint on the summit that offers breathtaking views to nearly all the central islands in the archipelago. A short dinghy ride after the walk will allow you to photograph the Galapagos Penguins that live along the coastline.

The orange beach and surrounding coastline is great for swimming and snorkeling and there is the opportunity of seeing penguins, sea lions, rays, reef fish and white-tipped reef sharks. Lunch will be served with one of the most amazing volcanic backdrops found anywhere in the archipelago.

On this tour look out for: Penguins, Lava lizards, Snakes, Marine iguanas, Frigate birds, Blue footed boobies, Brown noddie terns, Brown pelicans, White tip sharks, Sting rays, Sea turtles.

PM: Black Turtle Cove

The excursion to Black Turtle Cove , (which is is a salt-water lagoon) provides passengers with a “panga” ride through the different mangrove species , red, white and black. During this excursion, the outboard motor of the small boat is turned off. This allows, in its quiet crystal clear waters, the close observation of Sea Turtles, White Tipped Reef Sharks, Spotted Eagle Rays, and Yellow Rays. B/L/D

Day 7 (Wednesday: South Plaza & Santa Fe Islands

AM: South Plaza

A small island but in the winter season a very colorful uplifted island just off the east coast of Santa Cruz Island. South Plaza has a unique landscape of Sesuvium plants and Opuntia cacti and provides some of the most interesting plant and wildlife observation spots in Galapagos. Land iguanas are easily seen from the trail, normally lazing in the shade of the cacti. Swallow-tailed gulls and frigate birds use the rising air off the sea to glide effortlessly over the escarpment.

Towards the far end of the island a ‘bachelor colony’ of male sea lions can be observed. You will eat lunch anchored close to the rocky seashore inhabited by a large colony of playful sea lions.

PM: Santa Fe

Located south of Santa Cruz Island, a walk around this dry, rugged island offers the chance of spotting the Santa Fe Land Iguana that is only found here. The turquoise water of the stunning bay where you will be anchored offers the opportunity to snorkel with sea lions. You will land on the sandy beach of a beautiful protected bay where you will be greeted by colonies of sea lions. A short circular trail takes you along the cliff edge where you can most likely spot the iguanas as well as many lava lizards and even the Galapagos Hawk.

The trail brings you back round onto a second beach that is
also inhabited by sea lions and blue footed boobies sit on the rocks. Snorkel in the bay with sea lions and admire the many species of reef fish and occasionally sea turtle and rays. Lunch will be served whilst still anchored in the bay.

On this tour look out for: Sea lions, Land iguanas, Lava lizards, Swallow-tailed gulls, Lava gulls, Shearwaters, Storm petrels, Marine iguanas, Great frigate birds, Blue footed boobies, Brown noddie terns, Brown pelicans, White tipsharks, Sting rays, Sea turtles. B/L/D.

Day 8 (Thursday): San Cristobal Island

AM: Interpretation Center:
San Cristóbal is the easternmost island in Galapagos; on its southwestern side is
the old town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the capital of the providence of Galapagos. On Puerto Baquerizo Moreno is the Interpretation Center newly opened by the Galapagos National park in 1998, which is truly an extraordinary contribution to the information and education of the islands communities and the travelers; its 80% is focus in the anthropology of the Galapagos, the 20% is scientific. Transfer to the Airport to take your flight to Mainland. B

TESTIMONIALS

I would recommend this trip to a friend in a second. The trip to the Galapagos was Outstanding. The Letty was wonderful; the naturalists were the greatest; the food was superb; the crew excellent; (I\'m running out of adjectives) I would recommend the whole thing and your agency also. You really provided excellent service and information. I felt I could email or call you with any questions and I knew you would answer quickly and I felt honestly. For just taking a chance finding you on the internet, I was very fortunate.

-- Joyce P, Galapagos Islands on the Eric, Letty, Flamingo I

The Inca trail trek can only be described as magical. I tried my best to be cynical, but it didn’t work. This trip was pure magic and absolutely perfect. The logistics of the trip were impeccable. The ground transportation was on time and they made sure I was able to obtain my boarding pass and pay the airport tax at each leg of the trip. Out on the hike, my guide Oswaldo was fabulous. The food on the trail was amazing. The chef created simple and fresh meals that were bursting with local flavor.

-- Terry B, Inca Trail 5-day with Andean Adventures

Just returned from Costa Rica last night ... trip was a GREAT SUCCESS! We all thank you VERY MUCH for arranging the trip.

-- Bob Fenchel, Custom Costa Rica with Camino Travel

We’ve been home just over a week now and I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you just how fantastically well everything went! Ok, so we did end up paying the full whack (which I’ve decided just not to think about!). However, we had a fantastic guide and everything ran really smoothly and we had a fantastic time. From being collected from the hotel (Vieja Cuba which was lovely) to being looked after once we got to the Galapagos it was all just perfect, so thank you very much for being an important part of our fabulous trip. Cheers Greg !
