Altitude:    4,070 m (13,345 ft)
Average temperature:    10 C

Potosí, also known as Villa Imperial, was founded on April 10, 1545 at the foot of the famous "Rich Mountain" with its inexhaustible mineral resources, mainly silver and later tin, which have been and still are a source of economic  support for the nation since colonial times.

Potosí has 120,000 inhabitants and is also another great example of the colonial legacy.  It has more than 30 colonial churches whose function combines with the mystical rituals of the 30,000 entrances of mines whose ceremonies asking for mercy and luck to the devil in the mining activities, make a perfect contrast between good and evil.
