Frequently Asked Questions

What does Floreana Island (Santa Maria or Charles) feature?

The island of Floreana rests south of Santa Cruz, rising and falling in a proliferation of volcanic cones, which are often gentled by a thin mantle of Polo Santo forest. The sterner, western part of the island consists of bare lava flows and a striking black sand beach. The most popular spot on Floreana Island is Punta Cormorant, a green olivine beach.  You can see sea lions and it’s just a short walk past a lagoon to see Flamingos. Then visit a gorgeous white beach, whose sand is as fine as talcum powder. There are also many chances to see rays, sea turtles and Ghost and Sally Lightfoot crabs.
