Tipping of guides and crew is always appreciated, but is not required. Amounts should vary depending on service levels provided, but generally you should tip the guide $5-$8 per person per day, and the rest of the crew $10-$15 per day per person.
Tipping is usually done all at once at the very end of your cruise. Many cruises will have you tip anonymously by having you drop it into a communal box for the crew; you will tip the guide personally. Make sure to ask your guide when and how to tip on your particular cruise if it isn't clear.
